MPC as a Layer 2 service to Cardano

Profila × Partisia Blockchain · Project Catalyst Fund 12 (#1200045).

Grant-funded · Project Catalyst Fund 12 · 100,000 ADA

A proof of concept bringing Partisia’s confidential multi-party computation (MPC) to Cardano through Aiken smart contracts. A data buyer can query a demographic aggregate — “how many users are over 18?” — without ever seeing an individual record. An Aiken validator on Cardano Preprod records the request, an off-chain relay bridges it to Partisia, a zero-knowledge MPC contract computes the aggregate, and the result is returned with zero individual data exposed. Delivered across four milestones (Aiken contract; Partisia ZK contract + relay; secret-input flow with privacy verification; MPC computation + closeout).

The ZEKE token — a Cardano-native utility token whitepaper

Zero Knowledge Token ($ZEKE) · crypto-asset whitepaper v6.0.

The whitepaper for ZEKE ($ZEKE), the Zero Knowledge Token — the Cardano-native utility token that powers incentives and payments across the Profila ecosystem. It rewards people for privacy learning, profile-building and data sharing, and settles frictionless transactions between people and brands. Its tokenomics and utility are drawn out below; a PwC legal confirmation of its status as a utility token supports it.

ZEKE token

01 · What it is

A Cardano-native utility token

ZEKE ($ZEKE), the Zero Knowledge Token, is a Cardano-native utility token — the incentive and payment layer of the Profila ecosystem. A fixed 500,000,000 ZEKE were created on 3 June 2022. It gamifies the experience: people earn ZEKE for learning their privacy rights, building an accurate profile and sharing data on their terms, and spend it in frictionless transactions with the brands they choose.

ZEKE token

02 · Utility

Three roles: function, toll, currency

The whitepaper frames ZEKE’s utility across the platform’s services in three roles:

  • Function — enriches the experience and rewards good behaviour (privacy education, rights management, data management), incentivising usage and network growth.
  • Toll — “skin in the game”: the usage fee for running the rights-management and data-sharing smart contracts.
  • Currency — a payment and benefit-sharing unit for frictionless transactions between people and brands, and for paying Profila’s own service providers.

ZEKE also carries a governance role for community involvement in how the platform runs.

03 · Tokenomics

Fixed supply, and how it’s distributed

Of the fixed 500M ZEKE supply: 30% goes to a user incentive pool that rewards platform activity; up to 22% to the public sale; 15% to the team and existing shareholders; and 8% is reserved for service providers and advisors. The public-round price was estimated at ~$0.075 per ZEKE (tied to the ADA committed in the bootstrapping event), with a target raise of ~$2.5M and a hard cap on the event.

04 · The sale

Pre-seed → ISPO → public bootstrapping

ZEKE was offered in stages: a closed pre-seed, a seed round via an Initial Stakepool Offering (ISPO) in May–June 2024, and a final public round as a Liquidity Bootstrapping Event (LBE) on Minswap. AML/KYC for the sale is handled by Altcoinomy SA, a Swiss VQF-supervised financial intermediary.

PwC Legal

05 · Legal status

A utility token, not a security

PwC Legal (Switzerland) reviewed ZEKE against FINMA’s ICO guidance and confirmed it qualifies as a utility token (with payment features), not an asset token or security: it grants access to the Profila ecosystem and carries no dividend, interest or investment purpose. As a token with payment functionality, it complies with Swiss anti-money-laundering rules (self-regulatory registration and KYC). This is a supporting legal confirmation, cited here rather than republished.

AI lawyer on Cardano — Profila × HSLU

Profila × Hochschule Luzern (HSLU) · Project Catalyst Fund 9 (#900018) · completed.

Grant-funded · Project Catalyst Fund 9 · $78,000

A Catalyst Fund 9 project with HSLU bringing an AI legal assistant to the Cardano community. It matches a plain-language question to a smart knowledge base of over a million laws, contracts and policies — returning automated answers for common questions on tax, compliance and financial regulation, or routing complex ones to a qualified expert, at a fraction of the usual legal fee. It shares its lineage with Profila’s AI Privacy Lawyer research.

Anonymity & data control online — the ZKT, in two funded parts

Profila · Project Catalyst Funds 7 & 8 · both completed.

Grant-funded · Two Catalyst grants · Fund 7 ($25,050) + Fund 8 ($84,000)

A two-part, back-to-back Catalyst effort to put anonymity and data control on-chain through the Zero-Knowledge Token (ZKT), a Cardano-native token. Part 1 (Fund 7) introduced the ZKT and rewarded people for learning their privacy rights, building an accurate profile, and taking part in zero-knowledge advertising — personalised ads without exposing the person. Part 2 (Fund 8) extended the same token to a second use case: compensating people for brand interactions — viewing ads and giving feedback — so rewards track real engagement, not just profile completion. Together they trace Profila’s consent-and-compensation model from self-discovery to brand engagement.

Decentralised identity (Atala PRISM) Published

Control your data via PRISM — decentralised identity, in two funded parts

Profila · Project Catalyst Funds 6 & 8 · both completed.

Grant-funded · Two Catalyst grants · Fund 6 ($39,650) + Fund 8 ($67,500)

Two aligned Catalyst grants integrating Atala PRISM decentralised identity (DID) into Profila. Part 1 (Fund 6) established the identity layer — a cryptographic proof of identity so a person can selectively share data with brands in exchange for compensation. Part 2 (Fund 8, Accelerate Decentralized Identity) extended it into a consent-based data-vault app with an integrated DID that records personal-data licenses, bringing PRISM to the consumer mobile app. Together they give people a portable, self-owned identity beneath the consent-and-compensation model.

NFTs for customer feedback & content

Profila · Project Catalyst Fund 6 (#600099) · completed.

Grant-funded · Project Catalyst Fund 6 · $49,250

A Catalyst Fund 6 project letting people monetise the feedback and creative content they share with brands. A “create NFT” button on Profila’s Consumer Moments turns a review, photo or video into a tradeable NFT a brand can buy — compensating the creator for genuine market insight and user-generated content, rather than handing it over for free.

Data-licence dApp Published

2022

A dApp to control & monetise your data

Profila · Project Catalyst Fund 6 (#600052) · completed.

Grant-funded · Project Catalyst Fund 6 · $46,850

A consent-based app that records personal-data licences on Cardano with smart contracts. Rather than putting sensitive data on-chain, it stores the encrypted contract terms and payment authorisation — so a person can prove a data-sharing agreement, be paid in instant ADA micropayments when an organisation accesses their data, and hold companies accountable for misuse. This data-subscription-contract work became the foundation the Fund 12 Cardano × Partisia MPC project later built on.

Control your data — the privacy ledger, in two funded parts

Profila · Project Catalyst Funds 5 & 8 · both completed.

Grant-funded · Two Catalyst grants · Fund 5 ($19,200) + Fund 8 ($79,500)

Two aligned Catalyst grants building a privacy ledger on Cardano — tamper-proof proof of the data-rights requests people make. Part 1 (Fund 5) created the metadata ledger: when someone opts out of marketing or demands deletion, the request is recorded on-chain — “unsubscribe on steroids.” Part 2 (Fund 8) recorded both the request and the company’s response as smart contracts, turning a data-subject right into legally enforceable evidence of who asked for what and whether the company complied.

Company privacy ledger — GDPR & CCPA compliance on-chain

Profila · Project Catalyst Fund 8 (#800118) · completed.

Grant-funded · Project Catalyst Fund 8 · $81,300

The company-side counterpart to the privacy ledger. A blockchain ledger that lets brands handle data-subject-rights requests from a dashboard and keep immutable legal proof of compliance — every consumer privacy request under GDPR and CCPA recorded on Cardano, evidencing timely responses and regulatory adherence.
